(Intermediate Care)
MARCH

-
EVE's made her first
move towards coming home! She's been moved to IMC this morning!
-
She ate 3 cans of
A/D (the little short ones) and will be offered more if she wants it.
-
She's eating 4 times
daily, full ration.
-
Dr. Weyrauch has
given permission to increase her feedings so we can get her weight up
to
14 or 14.5 pounds.
-
She's much calmer
and is making more purposeful movements outside.
-
She's still wobbly
at times, but considering where she was last week ---
-
Dr. Ducote (the
neurological resident) and Laura Bay ( a second year student that I've
know since her childhood) both stopped by and think Eve is doing great.
(They really don't have the "Before" Eve to compare to though!)
-
We can visit tomorrow
around 5:00 p.m

-
She wagged her tail
today!
-
Eve is walking around
outside with much more purpose of movement. Sniffing the ground, like a
dog who can't see rather than a dog whose mind isn't working.
-
She is also walking
in straight lines rather than circles.
-
She's spending more
time at the front of her IMC cage. There's more going on in IMC and Lyn
wonders if she is beginning to hear the commotion. Lyn's line of
thought
is that if Eve is in a totally silent, dark world, then it wouldn't
seem
to make a difference to her where she was standing. Can't wait to go in
and call her name or see if she can recognize me by smell.
-
She hasn't had to
be fed through her tube. The tiny tyke is eating on her own!

-
Eve's continuing
to make progress.
-
She ventured out
into a "new world" today. She got to visit the community practice area
at TAMU's small animal clinic.
-
She was definitely
aware of her environment.
-
She very deliberately
moves around the area, and rarely runs into things.
-
She moves cautiously,
and seems to sense as she is getting close to walls, approaches very
slowly,
and then veers away.
-
Erika thinks she's
hearing something, but Lyn is not convinced.
-
Blood was drawn
to test bromide levels today.
-
Eve still struggled
when being restrained, but settled immediately when put down, shook so
as to get all of what's left of her hair in place, and when about her
business.

-
Eve had a bath-
along with Erika. She never did like a bath, no matter how many she had
as a puppy, so why should she be any different now?!
-
Lyn had hoped that
the level of valium that Eve is on could be decreased, and so she
eliminated
one of the doses and stretched it out from 8 hrs. to 12. Eve seemed
more
agitated this morning, and so the decision was made to put her back to
every 8 hrs.
-
No time to waste.
Need to get her "room" all ready. I think I'll assign Mardi as her
companion
seeing/hearing Scottie dog!

We
know that she's got a long way to go still, and so will continue to
update
her site when we see significant progress.
